For the Love of Dogs Ottawa's (FTLOD) mission is to provide safe, loving, and reliable foster homes to any and all dogs in need. With a particular focus on senior and special needs dogs, but open to all dogs in need, FTLODs provides protective, stable environments and will endeavour to find the best adoptive homes by using a rigorous screening process to ensure their safety and happiness. We work with our fosters & adopters every step of the way to ensure we set our dogs up for the best opportunity of success.

About us:

For the Love of Dogs Ottawa is a non profit dog rescue in the Ottawa area that is entirely run by our amazing volunteers and fosters, who generously donate their time and homes. All of the dogs brought into care are placed into foster homes where they undergo medical and behavioural assessments before they are ready for their forever homes. We take pride in the high level of care we provide our dogs in order to best set them up for a successful adoption.

Our funding is based solely on our fundraising events, adoption fees, and donations, which allow us to continue our rescue mission. We do not generate any profit or have paid positions within the rescue. All of these funds go directly towards vetting costs, food, training, medication, surgeries, and essential supplies (bed, crate, bowls, leash, collars, toys). 

Our adoption fee is $500.00- $850.00, which includes all age-appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and any specialist appointments on pre-existing conditions to ensure a clear and concise picture of each dog's needs. Please see our ADOPTION tab at the top of the page for more details.
